On June 11 and 12, 2024, the "Global Bridges 2024" meeting was held at CIEMAT (Centro de Investigaciones Energéticas, Medioambientales y Tecnológicas) in Madrid. This meeting, which was first organized about 10 years ago, connects scientists, specialized practitioners, and patient representatives from around the world who are involved with Diamond Blackfan Anemia Syndrome (DBAS).
The organizing committee consisted of our very own Marije Bartels (UMC Utrecht/van Creveldkliniek), Susana Navarro (CIEMAT) and Pierre-Emmanuel Gleizes (Center for Integrative Biology, Toulouse) in collaboration with the Spanish DBAS patient association. From the Netherlands, patients were represented by the DBAS Contact Group, who are also part of the TRACER User Committee.
The two days were filled with the exchange of knowledge between scientists, doctors and patients. It cannot come as a surprise that the various attendees learned a lot from each other. Finally, Teun Slijkerman, a PhD student in our consortium, was given the “best poster award” for his presentation. Congratulations on this achievement Teun!
